Romance in Manga

For this topic to revolve around Valentines day . . .honestly the timing couldn't have been better!!

I want to talk about a few titles in depth for this topic. The One, Skip Beat, and Kaichou wa-maid sama!. If you haven't read any of the titles mentioned then I would at least read one before reading this blog, because there will be spoilers!

Links to each title:

The one thing all three of these have  . . . is an extremely strong female type!

Skip beat is about a girl who was pure as can be. She did what she was told, and she even decided not to go to high school because of her childhood crush asked her to go to Tokyo with him! I mean THAT's dedication!! It doesn't help that our female protagonist's crush happens to be an idol who made it with her help (because she did cleaning and stuff) The female lead work her life away to provide for herself and her crush (who happens to almost never be there!) Eventually though she over hears her crush bad mouthing her and even called her plain . . . as hard as our protagonist has worked, this bad mouthing opened up her demons of pure hate. This flipped the script from purity and love to just down right hate in a matter of a few short chapters. However it's the challenge of one day beating her childhood crush that keeps her moving on into showbiz. She's meet with a lot of humps and bumps regarding her upbringing, making it into acting school, and even trying to find love again. This Strong character will give you plenty of things to laugh and cry about. Skip beat is a definite must read!

Now on to "The One" . . . have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a model? If the answer is yes than this is the manga for you! It starts off with the female lead dreaming of being a model in Taiwan. She faces many auditions and hardships, but eventually is one of the most sought after models in the industry! Now you're probably wondering, wheres the romance in that? Well the thing that makes this a romance is this heated, twisted, relationship that she has with a famous photographer, who has a twin thats a famous model. The female lead, as much as she loves him, he constantly pushes her away in the series. So much so her life was in danger in a few parts of the story. If you want to know if she got her happily ever after, I suggest you read the manga!!

Finally moving on to Kaichou wa-maid sama. The main female lead for this manga is a hardcore student body president that's loved by all the females in school . . . . can you guess why? Because any girl that cries because of a boy, she steps in and gives EXTREME punishment! One boy in particular makes girls cry more than anything (because he's good looking and always rejects confession letters). One day the main lead goes into work (which is a maid cafe) and guess who she bumps into . . .the trouble maker! She now has to do him favors to keep her secret from everyone at school. Things start get get hectic, but like all rom coms they end up liking each other through the odd turn of events.

All three of these female leads can take a hit, came back strong and just all around can kick butt! In the end, it shows me, that no matter how tough you are, what your life circumstances are. You can always find love . . . in the oddest way possible that will last a life time.
